Revenant
Revenants, born from defiance and errant magic, dance between life and death. Scars paint their forms, whispering tales of struggle and escape, flesh or bone echoing an unyielding spirit. Memories may sting, and phantom hunger gnaw, yet they yearn for life's warmth, proving their connection to the world. Fueled by the same energies that threatened them in life, they find strength in shadow's kiss or the divine embrace, forever marked by the magic that set them free. These beings absorb the energy that created them and a harmed by opposing forces. For example, a Shadow Revenant will take 50% more damage from Divine energy but gain 10% health from Shadow energy. This is the opposite of Divine Revenants.
Echo of the Past
Revenants can momentarily tap into the echoes of their past lives, granting them fleeting access to skills and abilities they once possessed. A warrior Revenant might regain their battle prowess for a brief but devastating attack, while a scholar Revenant could recall forgotten knowledge to solve a complex puzzle. This echo is temporary and leaves the Revenant drained afterward.
Resilient Essence
Revenants possess a unique connection to the energy that brought them back, granting them enhanced resilience against damage of the same type. A Shadow Revenant would be more resistant to dark magic or necrotic energy, while a Divine Revenant would shrug off holy damage or radiant attacks. However, they remain vulnerable to opposing energies.
Spectral Shift
Revenants can partially shift their form into a spectral state, becoming intangible and able to pass through solid objects. This allows them to evade attacks, scout unseen, or even phase through barriers. However, while in this state, they are unable to interact with the physical world, making them vulnerable if caught off guard.
