My name is Steve. I've been at this for a very long time. This website is my favorite hobby. I have maintained the site and its various forms since the summer of 1996. I have no plans to stop anytime soon.
I like to write for Solaris. I don't write about anything else. I'm certainly not a writer by any stretch of the imagination. I enjoy developing this website. I love PC gaming and technology. I wouldn't consider myself an RPG fan, although I do like certain 90's JRPGs, some ARPGs, and some modern MMOs. I love retro gaming. I miss the 80's and 90's. Oh, and I hate social media.
As mentioned above, this site has been around for ages. We have a mix of many different things in Solaris, from traditional fantasy elements to pure science fiction. We've touched on many topics over the years. We've had quite a mix of storylines. See the story guide for more details. Check the guidebook for anything you wish to know.
While I have written much of the content you will find on this website, some of it was written by the players throughout the years. Many character profiles, certain equipment and ability descriptions, certain snippets from the guides, some regional descriptions, and some creature descriptions were written by the players.
As you may have already noticed, this website looks basic and minimalistic. The simple design is very intentional. Solaris didn't always look this way, but I decided to keep things clean and simple. I feel like the modern web is incredibly bloated. I don't want to contribute to the problem.
Ads, trackers, cookies, and excessive images and videos suck! Not everyone has a speedy internet connection. I want Solaris to be accessible to anyone. Whether they use a phone, laptop, desktop, or tablet, this website should load the same on any device.
I use Sublime Text as an editor for writing the site's HTML, CSS, and JS. I use WinSCP to update the site on our web host, NeoCities. I created the site logo using Cool Text.
