Human

Humans on Solaris, known as Rift Jumpers, were torn from their original timelines across Earth's history by mysterious blue lights. These displaced individuals carry the echoes of countless lives lived across dimensions. Resilient and remarkably adaptable, they awaken in unfamiliar territory—the shores of Xhan Tarn, the Osperian Forest, or even the dangerous Kazarial Desert. Their ability to thrive in adversity makes them equally adept at cultivating fields, mastering arcane arts, or excelling in combat.

Origins

Humans are unique among Solaris' races in that they are not native to this world. Each Rift Jumper was transported from Earth through temporal-spatial anomalies, arriving from different periods throughout human history—from ancient civilizations to distant futures. This diverse temporal origin gives Humans an unparalleled breadth of knowledge, skills, and perspectives. Some theorize the Builders may have orchestrated these displacements for unknown purposes, while others believe it relates to timeline corrections or cosmic balance. Whatever the cause, Humans have established themselves as a vital part of Solaris' tapestry, bringing innovation and adaptability to their adopted world.

Temporal Echoes

Rift Jumpers carry remnants of their past lives, granting them unique intuition and adaptability. They can sense subtle shifts in timelines, giving them heightened awareness of potential dangers and opportunities. This ability also allows them to learn and adapt to new situations faster than other races, drawing on half-remembered skills from their original timeline. In Korbgrad City, some human scholars have developed methods to enhance these echoes, temporarily accessing knowledge they never consciously possessed.

Riftwalk

Humans can briefly tap into the energy of the rift that brought them to Solaris, allowing them to phase through solid objects or teleport short distances. This ability can be used to escape dangerous situations, outmaneuver opponents, or reach inaccessible areas. The range and frequency of riftwalking depend on the Jumper's strength and experience. Those who arrived more recently tend to display stronger manifestations of this ability, while it gradually weakens in those who have lived on Solaris for many years.

Timeweave

Rift Jumpers can manipulate the flow of time around them in a limited fashion. They can briefly accelerate their own movements to gain a burst of speed or slow down an opponent's actions to create an opening for an attack. This ability requires concentration and can be mentally taxing, limiting its use in prolonged encounters. Some Humans have found that specific locations with temporal anomalies, such as Onaruu in the Kazarial Desert, enhance this ability to remarkable degrees.

Regions & Relations

Humans have integrated themselves throughout Solaris rather than establishing separate settlements. Significant populations can be found in Elyndaar City, Harbor City in Xhan Tarn, and Korbgrad City in the Hinterfall Jungle. New Rift Jumpers frequently appear on the shores of Xhan Tarn, where Captain Tillen's Explorers have established protocols to help them acclimate to Solaris. Humans maintain generally positive relations with most races due to their adaptability and lack of historical grievances. They form particularly strong bonds with Solarians, whose welcoming nature helped many Humans adjust to their new reality. Their relationship with Vegonians tends to be cautious, as humans who arrived during the Black Empire's rule sometimes carry traumatic memories of that conflict.

Class Affinities

Humans excel in virtually any class, their adaptability allowing them to master diverse disciplines. Many become Warriors, bringing combat techniques from their original timelines that surprise even seasoned fighters. Those with analytical minds often pursue the Mage path, combining Solarian magical traditions with scientific knowledge from Earth. Humans with particular temporal sensitivity frequently become Hunters, using their intuitive understanding of movement and prediction to track prey with uncanny precision. In Elyndaar City, some Humans have pioneered new approaches to the Techknight class, integrating Earth technologies with Ciedium energy.

Magical Affinities

Humans demonstrate remarkable versatility in magical aptitude, though individual affinities often reflect their personality or origin timeline. Many develop strong connections to Time magic, their rift-traveler nature giving them intuitive understanding of temporal flows. Those from technological futures frequently develop affinity for Ciedium magic, finding parallels to the energy systems they once knew. Humans from Earth's ancient cultures often manifest powerful Nature or Elemental magic, drawing on half-remembered spiritual traditions. Some Rift Jumpers develop unexpected affinity for Chaos magic, their displacement across realities giving them unique perspective on probability and possibility.

Professional Pursuits

Humans bring diverse skills from their original timelines to their trades on Solaris. Many become Scientists, applying knowledge from Earth to solve Solarian problems in innovative ways. Those from technical backgrounds often excel as Engineers, particularly in Elyndaar City where their fresh perspectives lead to technological breakthroughs. Some Humans become highly valued Explorers, their adaptability and lack of ingrained assumptions making them excellent at documenting Solaris' wonders objectively. In Harbor City, Humans with maritime knowledge from Earth have become respected Salvagers, recovering items from shipwrecks with techniques unknown to native Solarians.
