Regions of Solaris

Planet Solaris

Osperian Forest

At the heart of Solaris sprawls the Osperian Forest, a vast woodland shrouded in mystery. Towering trees and lush undergrowth conceal ancient secrets throughout this enigmatic realm. Diverse creatures and races—both friendly and hostile—inhabit the forest, living in varying states of harmony with its natural magic.

Endless Plains

The Endless Plains stretch from the northeastern borders of Osperian Forest toward the Darkmire Swamp and east toward the Wildlands. Here, nomadic tribes and wild animals endure harsh weather from scorching heat to freezing cold. Few landmarks break the grassland—just scattered hills, rivers, and ancient ruins that dot this central region of the continent.

Skyhold Mountains

The Skyhold Mountains rise majestically along the Osperian Forest's southern border. These towering, snow-capped peaks—the world's highest and most treacherous—attract only the most skilled climbers. Rich in minerals and magic, they also harbor avalanches, blizzards, and fierce creatures.

Xhan Tarn

Nestled between the Skyhold Mountains and azure sea, Xhan Tarn Beach is paradise on earth. This world's longest beach stretches for over 7,000 miles and attracts millions with its crystal-clear waters revealing colorful fish and coral reefs below. Famous for breathtaking sunsets in orange, pink, and purple hues.

Darkmire Swamp

The Darkmire Swamp forms a vast wetland that dominates the northwestern quadrant of the main continent, bordering the northern edge of the Endless Plains. This dark, foreboding region lies beneath a thick canopy of twisted trees and vines that block the sun. Poisonous plants, venomous snakes, and bloodthirsty creatures infest these waters.

Hinterfall Jungle

The Hinterfall Jungle stretches north of Darkmire Swamp, standing as the world's thickest, most diverse rainforest. Countless species thrive in its humid, tropical climate among exotic fruits, colorful birds, ancient temples, and deadly predators. The northern portion is sometimes colloquially referred to as the Hinterlands.

Kazarial Desert

The Kazarial Desert sprawls west of Osperian Forest—a vast, inhospitable wasteland scorched by sun and whipped by sand-laden winds. This barren expanse spans approximately 1/4th of the entire surface of planet Solaris and shows little life beyond occasional oases, cacti, and scorpions. Dangers lurk everywhere: unpredictable sandstorms, deceptive mirages, and roving bandits.

Dormuzahn Isles

The Dormuzahn Isles form a remote archipelago south of Xhan Tarn Beach—the world's most isolated islands rarely visited by travelers. These diverse landforms showcase tropical forests, coral reefs, active volcanoes, and cascading waterfalls.

The Wildlands

Southeast of Osperian Forest lie the untamed Wildlands, once barren but restored to natural glory by the Grovekin after the Black Empire's fall. This vibrant region teems with diverse flora and fauna, bordered by the Endless Plains to the north and stretching toward the eastern coast. A hidden Elyndrian encampment led by fierce warrior Kora Nightblade stands against injustice here.

The World's Edge

The World's Edge (also known as the Frozen Region) covers Solaris's south pole and encompasses the entire southern continent. This frozen tundra, where temperatures rarely exceed freezing and sunlight is scarce, experiences fierce storms, avalanches, and treacherous icebergs. Here, the proud Ardanians—descendants of explorers from Planet Ardanor—have built a resilient civilization adapted to this harsh environment.

Orbital Structures

Arc Station

Orbiting Solaris, Arc Station—an enigmatic Builder relic—forms a colossal ring with a massive central sphere visible from the planet's surface on clear nights. Recently awakened from millennia of dormancy, this space station was discovered by Elyndrians who accidentally activated a Builder Gateway, finding dormant automatons and sealed chambers of ancient Builders in suspended animation.

Beyond Solaris

Planetoid Lunaris

A small moon orbiting planet Solaris, Lunaris is a dark world where blood-red forests teem with dangerous ape-like Howlers and Minoks. Rarely visited by outsiders except for Elyndrians who established Explorer's Landing—a small outpost with a portal back to Elyndaar City.

Planet Gorgonia

Far from Solaris lies verdant Gorgonia, a lush world of colorful, exotic flora and fauna. Home to the noble Gorgon race who mastered elemental control, it also hosts Pathfinder Point, an Elyndrian outpost. Legends speak of a multidimensional gateway here.

Planet Ardanor

Accessible through a portal in Aufeis Village, Planet Ardanor is a harsh, icy realm resembling Viking mythology's frozen worlds. Jagged glaciers pierce the sky while relentless blizzards scour the tundra. The ancestral home of the Ardanians who now inhabit the World's Edge, the planet maintains strong cultural ties with its colony on Solaris.

Zetha Prime

Sculpted by primordial energies, Zetha Prime pulses with otherworldly life. Crystal-crowned mountains pierce sapphire skies while bioluminescent rivers wind through alien meadows. At its heart stands Gearrr, a capital city of ever-shifting metal spires, home to the enigmatic Zethan shapeshifters who have mastered advanced technology beyond Solarian understanding.

Extradimensional Planes

The Afterplane

Beyond the Shadowgate lies the Afterplane, an extradimensional plane connected to Solaris through magical portals and rifts. This realm of the departed souls is where forces of light and dark wage constant battle across the spirit world. The village of Evermore offers haven for lost souls, while the Infernal Chasm houses demons and evil creatures seeking to break through to the living world.

The Void Realm

At the Nomaverse's center stretches the Void Realm—silent darkness illuminated only by the Flow, a mysterious energy river and source of all magic. Various floating isles with diverse civilizations orbit this energy stream. The secretive Voidwalkers, powerful mages who manipulate the Flow, guide travelers through this mysterious dimension accessible only through specialized portals.

Hidden & Subterranean

The World Below

Beneath Solaris's crust, accessible only through The Breach in the Wildlands, lies the World Below. This vast underground realm features skies lit by massive ciedium deposits protruding from cavern ceilings. The Protokin—an advanced Grovekin species—have adapted to this subterranean environment, developing a unique civilization untouched by the Builders' influence that shaped surface life.

Time Anomalies

Future Solaris

Through the Onaruu Crater's time rift in the Kazarial Desert, explorers discover Solaris thousands of years hence. The continents have dramatically shifted, with the former Endless Plains now submerged beneath a vast ocean, while the elevated regions of the former Hinterfall Jungle and Wildlands have merged into a single, sprawling wilderness. To the north stand skeletal remains of ancient Solaris City—crumbling towers reaching skyward amid vine-covered streets, telling the silent tale of a catastrophe.
